Many people have wondered how to grease their wheel bearings. I've actually read in the forums where some folks say the WRR bearings are sealed....and you can't re-grease them. Indeed, they are sealed. Thank goodness they are sealed. But you most certainly...absolutely...without a doubt....CAN grease them. And I'm going to show you how right here & now.
This will be like Show-n-Tell....in video....without the background music....but in freeze frame. Ready - - - Action !
Much to my amazement, I've been asked repeatedly by other riders, "How do you keep your bike so clean? What magical cleaning chemicals &/or equipment do you use? At first, I thought people were joking. But, the Krabill has assured me this is a serious question. So, I'm going to let you get dirty with me (er..uh..clean, that is). I hope this article is helpful to you, and you're not disappointed with the simplicity of my procedures. Let's dive in.
I have two important rules regarding bike cleaning:
1) The ride isn't over until the bike is clean!
2) No high pressure washing!
Now, like most things in life, there are exceptions to the rules. But its not often that you would find me violating these two rules. Most of my cleaning is performed at Rancho Highfive utilizing this super duper, top-secret equipment:

One of the easiest and most effective things you can do to help your engine run at its full potential is to clean the air filter properly & frequently.
This is my procedure, which I developed through many years of Observed Trials competition. In Trials, engine tuning is often so sensitive, that good air flow can be critical to success. Here is how I do it.
Nothing really magical about it. No fancy wash station or special chemicals. No high dollar, friend-of-the-earth cleaners or solvents. Though, there seems to be a growing list of offerings available. Nope...my method is just plain, simple, & effective. And, it goes like this (for the WRR):
Remove the seat, then remove the right side-cover.

I've had several requests for Show-n-Tells on some basic maintenance. Simple questions like: How do you change the oil? What's the correct way to clean the air filter? And the most repeated: How does HF keep his bike so clean? I thought this last one was a joke, but its not. People seriously want to know.
So, I've decided to start a series of articles for several basic maintenance procedures. I'm just documenting things as they work into my normal rotation. The first article is "Changing the Oil".
Here are the glorious tools of my trade:
